March Madness Tournament

The TSF U15 Lady Titans travelled to Maryland on March 23rd and 24th to compete in its inaugural tournament as a Club Team at the Baltimore March Madness. Playing four games over two days the team went undefeated and were crowned Champions with a 2-1 win in the final.
In the opening game of the tournament, the Lady Titans went down 1-0 on an early goal to the Bethesda Force. Once the team got settled in, TSF Academy began to come back into the game. Some good play, and clinical finishing saw TSF overcome the early deficit with a 3-1 win.
In the second game of group play the U15 girls battled the Jersey Knights. The game was physical with the Lady Titans earning a close victory 2-1.
In the semi -finals the Lady Titans played a very good SSC Barcelona team. TSF went ahead 1-0 early in the game. Even though the SSC Barcelona team worked hard to get back into the game, TSF Academy battled hard and managed to hold onto the 1-0 victory. In the finals the TSF Lady Titans played the Jersey Knights for a second time. Once again TSF Academy came away with a 2-1 victory and the championship. Coach Dan said after the tournament "The girls played well and worked hard. Our defensive shape was good, and we showed resilience under pressure and an ability to score crucial goals at the right time." Coach Dan continued "The players have put in a lot of hard work throughout the winter, and I am pleased with the results. We do still have a lot of work to do to improve, however I feel the players are certainly challenging themselves to do well. " Girls Academy Manager Mark White continued "The Lady Titans had a great event, and we are confident they are going to have more success as their season unfolds. Coach Dan has done a great job so far, and the players are responding well to his training principles." Next up for the Lady Titans will be the first round of the state cup tournament.

Former TSF Academy player Nikki Krzysik is drafted to play for Chicago in the Women's Professional Soccer League
During the summer of 2007, Nikki Krzysik was part of the TSF Academy Super-20 Women's Team. On Friday, January 16 she was the #13 draft pick for the Women's Professional Soccer League and was selected by former Iona College and Arsenal Women's Team (London, UK) Coach Emma Hayes as Chicago Red Stars 2nd pick.
Nikki is a native of Clifton, NJ and TSF Academy Director Mark White has known her since she was 13 years old. "Even back then it was obvious Nikki was going to be a special player" White said. "She was training with other good players, including Yael Averbuch (WPS - Sky Blue, #4 draft pick) and showed a desire to improve her game in every department."
Nikki's hard work has seen her represent the US National Team at the U17, U19, U20, U21 & U23 levels and now she has taken another huge step in her development by being part of the WPS for its inaugural season.
"Nikki is not only a great player, she is also a wonderful person" White continued, "She often visits TSF Academy to meet our younger players and to talk about her experiences at the University of Virginia and with the National program. I am sure she is going to be a wonderful ambassador for the program, and will gain many fans across the country. TSF wish her, as well as all the other WPS players all the very best of luck. We are looking forward to seeing some great soccer".
