Heading in to the 2019 season, TSF Academy is pleased to announce that Lee Bakewell will be taking the role as the new Boys’ Director of Coaching, and Patrick O’Connor will serve as the Girls’ Director of Coaching. Both will work closely with the new Director of Youth Development, James Smith and his Assistant Director of Youth Development, Mateo Restrepo.

Lee holds his USSF A License and is entering his twelfth year with TSF Academy. In his role as Academy Director Lee has played a significant part in the club’s progress and will continue to reinforce our philosophy of development with coaches and players. With a tremendous amount of experience coaching at many levels of the game, Lee will continue to play a very active part in the education of our coaches and club direction both on and off the field.

Patrick has achieved his National Premier Diploma and attained a masters in Sports Science from the University of Ohio. Now in his ninth year with TSF Academy, Patrick has played a key role in the strengthening of the girls’ program, building an excellent rapport with the players and parents. We strongly believe that Patrick will work tirelessly to see the program continue to grow, providing our female players with the best opportunities possible and the pathway to college they deserve.

James will assume the role of Director of Youth Development, after serving as the Inter Academy Manager for the past three years. In his ten years with the club, James has shown the enthusiasm, passion and energy we feel is essential in developing talent at the grassroots level, focusing on the technical and fundamental stages of player development. In his new role, James will be responsible for all elements of our Zone One programming (ages 8-12), helping players build confidence and a love for the game.

Working alongside James will be Mateo Restrepo, our current 2007 Boys Development Academy Head Coach. Mateo began his career as a player with the club, enjoying National Championship success with TSF Academy Diablos before moving in to a coaching role in 2015. Mateo demonstrates the level of passion we believe is essential in developing young players, building a great rapport with them, and we are extremely confident that he will contribute to the future successes of the club.

We are extremely excited for the future and will be continuing to restructure to make sure our players are provided the best platform and opportunities for the future.  There is a vast amount of experience in guiding the club forward and we strongly believe the future is bright at TSF Academy.  We look forward to continuing to develop players under the guidance of our senior staff that have played integral roles with TSF Academy for many years.
