ATTACKING PRINCIPLES
TSF Academy Coaches will be expected to plan sessions in line with the periodization/annual plan put into place by the Director of Coaching and Zone One Director.
Teams will be analyzed, evaluated and reviewed based on our club principles of play (see below) - training sessions should always be working towards these goals and style of play.
-
READ SITUATIONS OF NUMBERS UP/DOWN TO CONTROL TEMPO
-
FIRST OPTION FORWARD (pass, run with or without the ball)
-
CREATE MULTIPLE PASSING OPTIONS (so player in possession can play forward to break lines, or the way he’s facing on 45 degree angles, underneath
-
NO SQUARE PASSES WHEN FACING OUR GOAL
-
REST DEFENSE (always have numbers up on opponent around the ball, when in possession and on player closest to our own goal)
-
COMMUNICATION (verbal and non verbal: MAN ON, TURN, ….)
-
FOLLOW UP CHANCES
-
DESIRE & AMBITION TO GET NUMBERS IN BOX
-
FREEDOM TO CREATE
All Academy Coaches will be expected to plan ALL training sessions using Sports Session Planner.
DEFENDING PRINCIPLES
-
DESIRE AND AMBITION TO WIN THE BALL
-
COUNTER PRESS / IMMEDIATE REACTION
-
READ SITUATIONS OF NUMBERS UP/DOWN AND PRESSURE ON THE BALL (body shape) covering and recovery defending.
-
PLAYER CLOSEST TO THE BALL PRESSURES (while taking away at least one passing option)
-
DENY SPACE (around ball, between lines and us/opponent)
-
CREATE NUMBERS UP AROUND THE BALL (when opponent is facing their own goal, heavy controlled touches, bad passes, every 50/50 and aerial duel)
-
NO TURN (do not allow opponent to turn when facing their own goal)
-
COMMUNICATION (verbal and non verbal: organization, making play predictable for players in each line/area of field)
-
REST ATTACK (players high up the field are tuned into being options when possession is won or anticipating 50/50 balls
